On the right side of every session, you’ll see the Muse Mixer. This is a list of inputs from you and your collaborators, giving you full control of all audio shared during the session.
Adding and removing inputs:
Talkback Mic: Your first input is typically your talkback microphone, which you should have selected before joining the session. This is your primary microphone for speaking. Use only one at a time to avoid doubling your voice.
- Click "Add Music device" to add any audio source, device, or instruments, including:
- Another Microphone or Instrument (e.g. guitar, synth, interface channel)
- Computer Audio (switches your computer output to Muse Audio Share on Mac, or Cable Output on Windows)
- DAW Audio (If there is an "ERR" warning icon, add the Muse plugin on your DAW’s master track)
- MIDI Devices (lets you play your collaborator’s virtual instruments through Muse)
- Remove channels by clicking the "x" next to the input, or add channels via the gear icon > "+" next to channel dropdown > add your channel.
.
Tip: Only add the inputs you need. Each extra device uses bandwidth and increases the chance of network errors.
Mixer Controls
Volume Fader: Adjust input levels (greyed out if you're using Standard HQ audio quality).
Mic Icon: Mute your input for yourself and collaborators.
Mute Options (dropdown):
Auto Mute: Mutes your mic while you are playing another audio source (e.g. Computer audio, DAW Audio)
Push to Talk: Mutes your mic unless you hold the talkback key (default key: backquote "`". Change in Settings > Audio).
Gear Icon: More device settings such as adding or removing channels, switching between mono/stereo, changing audio quality, sample rate, buffer size.
.
Collaborator Controls
Below your own inputs, you can manage your collaborators’ devices.
Note: When changing someone else's settings, you only change your perception of the audio signal. Just because you mute someone's signal does not mean it is muted for everyone else.
Volume Fader: Adjust their input volume
Mic Icon: Mute their input.
Headphones Icon: Solo their input (mutes every other input in the session)
Circle Icon: Arm their input for recording. This routes audio to your DAW and saves a file once recording stops. Use the arrow to view the saved file/folder.
Tip: In collapsed mixer view, you can hide all inputs and quickly unmute all devices from a collaborator with one click.
